Grit, Integrity, and Heart: A Different Kind of Trial Lawyer
What does freedom really look like for lawyers today?
As we mark the Fourth of July, I’ve been reflecting on freedom—not just in the civic sense, but in the day-to-day. In the legal world, freedom might mean having a moment to breathe between deadlines, or the ability to choose how you show up, not just how much you produce.
But in an industry where emotional load, high caseloads, and relentless pressure are the norm, what does freedom actually look like?
In a recent episode of my podcast, Conscious Corner, I sat down with trial attorney Jordan Strokovsky to explore that question. Jordan opened up about how he manages the intense demands of owning a law firm, representing clients in catastrophic injury cases, and becoming a new parent. It was one of the most honest and human conversations I’ve had about law, leadership, and well-being.
⚖️ From Headlines to Humility
Jordan is the founder of Strokovsky LLC, where he represents clients in high-stakes litigation involving medical malpractice, civil rights violations, birth injuries, and more.
He recently secured a $30+ million verdict in a medical malpractice case—one of the largest in Pennsylvania history. His preparation was so thorough that the hospital admitted fault before the jury even returned its verdict. The outcome? Systemic reform.
But beyond the courtroom victories, what stood out most was what doesn't usually make headlines:
His humility
His steady presence
His quiet commitment to doing the right thing—even when no one is watching
🛠️ “I Know What It’s Like to Fail Without Trying”
Jordan’s story didn’t begin in law school or the courtroom. He actually dropped out of college.
“I failed—not by trying and falling short,” he told me, “but by not showing up at all. That’s the worst feeling in the world.”
He made himself a promise: never again.
Since then, he’s rebuilt his life and career. He graduated valedictorian of his law school class, earned an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple, and built a practice anchored not in volume, but in values.
🌱 Freedom Through Structure
Jordan doesn’t deny that law is stressful. But he’s learned to work with that stress—rather than be consumed by it. His wellness tools include:
Weekly case reviews (on paper) to stay grounded
Daily walks or runs for clarity
Strategic use of Do Not Disturb
Valuing rest and simplicity
Taking on cases that align with his energy and purpose
“Law is one of the most stressful professions there is,” he shared. “But I love what I do. And I’ve found a rhythm that works for me.”
❤️ Fatherhood + the People Who Keep Us Well
Jordan recently became a dad. When I asked how that experience has changed him, he lit up.
“My wife is the love of my life. She’s an incredible mom, and she makes the whole world feel well.”
That line stuck with me.
Because freedom isn’t just personal—it’s relational. It lives in the support systems we build, the people we surround ourselves with, and the moments we choose to treat ourselves with the same compassion we give to others.
